Eyelash extensions

Eyelash extensions became a revolutionary products that lengthen and enhance the natural eyelashes in 2003 from Korea and spread to USA later on, and then to Europe around 2008. Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent single strands of synthetic or real mink lashes that are curved to replicate the natural eyelash. They are applied individually, for a natural, elegant or glamorous look. In the nordic countries, it is mostly used as people are light colored hair, so are their eyelashes, therefore the options of getting their eyelashes extended are very popular.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

When applied properly, semi-permanent lashes can last up to 2 months, depending on the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes and the expertise of the technician applying your extensions. To maintain the look of your lashes, a retouch is required every 3-4 weeks and 4-5 weeks in other cases.

Contradictions in early lash loss
Your eyelash extensions may not last as long as normal and requires a more regular retouch. The following are cases that affect the normal lash cycle and early lash loss.

  • Eating disorders or Poor Nutrition
  • Pregnancy or Recent Childbirth ( 3-4months)
  • Chemotherapy
  • Stress
  • Lake of D & B vitamins ( also Magnesium & calcium) More common in northern countries ( lake of sun)
  • Allergies ( not advice to have lashes but check with your lash stylist)
  • Dry Eyes ( use drops before and after 24 hours to keep eyes moist)
  • Hypensitivity
  • Thyroid disease
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Eye infection or condition ( use our Dlux collagen Cleanser – read on website) It is not possible to get lashes
  • the use of the following drugs:
    Cholesterol lowering drugs
    Parkinson’s medications
    Ulcer drugs
    anti arthritics
    drugs derived from Vil A
    anti convulsants
    beta blockers for HBP
    blood thinners.

    Can I swim, shower or exercise while wearing eyelash extensions?

    Yes. After your initial cure time of 24 hours, the formulated adhesive allows you to shower( get water on the lashes), swim, exercise and sleep worry-free while wearing them. You can enjoy your lashes with little need to adjust your lifestyle. But it is not advice to go to the steam room or sauna and sweat from training affects the longevity of eyelash extensions

    Can I apply eyelash extensions to my own lashes?

    No. Only a trained professional will be able to safely apply eyelash extensions. Unprofessional application or self-application may cause eye injury or clumpy, unnatural looking lashes.

    How often should I get retouches?
    We recommend getting a retouch every 3 or 4 weeks depending on the glue used, working environmental conditions during application, your daily activities . A natural eyelash sheds every 60-90 days on average due to the natural growth cycle, and is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. A retouch is needed to replenish the lashes that have completed their life cycle. Retouches generally take shorter time and are relatively inexpensive.

    Can I apply mascara to my eyelash extensions?
    No & yes. No It is not advice to wear mascara as it affects the natural lashes. It add weights and stress to the natural lashes resulting in early eyelashes fall or breakage of the natural lashes. It is also very difficult to remove make up during retouches, makeup remover affects the longevity of eyelashes extensions.

    Yes . If you apply water base mascara only on the ends of the eyelashes and wash the mascara off by running water on your eyelashes during your shower. It is important not to rubbe onto the eyelashes during removal. It will break your own eyelashes.

    How do I take care of my eyelash extensions?
    Eyelash extensions, applied properly, are easy to maintain. To maintain the look and extend the life of your lashes, it is important that you follow the following instruction as aftercare :

  • do not wash your eyes or shower for the next 24 hrs after your eyelash treatment
  • Avoid swimming, spa ( sauna and steam room)
  • sweating is the next affecting factor of the eyelashes durability, avoid sweat around your eyelashes if you train a lot
  • be gentle with your lashes and avoid sleeping on the face at night or rubbe/itch in your eyes
  • brush your eyelashes daily to remove dust residue
  • Use a eyelash lash shampoo every 2nd day like our dlux pro collagen shampoo to protect your eyelashes from bacteria, clean lashes last longer
  • to dry your eyelashes, use a clean towel underneath the lashes , and gently let the towel absorb the liquids of your lashes without rubbing them.

    Describe the lash extension process?

    You will be reclined comfortably with your eyes closed, while your eyelash extensions are being applied individually to your natural eyelashes. It generally takes 90-120 minutes to apply a full set of eyelash extensions. The procedure is very relaxing and comfortable that sometimes clients fall asleep. A retouch varies between 45minutes to 1 hour.
